Lydia is a Certified Behavior Consultant and Trainer, Licensed Family Dog Mediator, AKC Approved Evaluator and AKC Fetch Judge. She has over 20 years experience in animal training with the last 6 exclusive to dogs. She holds a BS in Animal Science from Texas A&M University. Lydia is an avid learner and believes that each animal we encounter has a lesson for us. Both dogs and horses have the amazing ability to show us the truths in life: “be present, authentic, patient and kind”.
Prior to opening Next Step K9 Center she headed the Training Department at The Dog Ranch of Liberty Hill, Liberty Hill, Tx where she was named Best Trainer of Liberty Hill in 2023 and the Training program was named Best Training Program in Liberty Hill in 2022 and 2023.
Lydia’s 3 personal dogs include Rey the Labrador, MaliBug the GSD, and Ember the Doberman. Collectively they have earned Novice – Advanced Do More With Your Dog Trick Titles, AKC Novice Trick Titles, UKC Jr Dock Diving (15” jump. We continue to train in Agility, Mantrailing, and explore new sports, as well as enjoy the girls on our property in Purcell.
